BMI of 33-34

Recommended Posts

I have a BMI which is 15 pounds below 35. I have lost 40 pounds three times and gained it back three times. I am very interested in the sleeve. However I would like to talk to someone who has had a similar story.

I had my surgery at a BMI just under 35. I had also lost and gained the same 30-40 lbs for years; the lowest I got down to in the recent 10 years or so was 165, for a BMI of just around 29. I achieved a BMI of 25 in about 4.5 months, if I remember correctly, and now I'm hovering above 23 and not really trying to lose more, although if it happens, it happens. I think the sleeve was a good choice for me!

Hi Rodger;

If you have been struggling with weight for a while.. won a frequent user award at WW, JC, L or any other diet plan where you really tried...the sleeve might be right for you. Just like Blackberry, I struggled with my weight over the last 15 years, loosing and regaining anywhere from 10-60 lbs each year. Never went in my favor.

As you can see below, my pre surgery BMI was 33.1, too low for insurance to cover so I was a self payer in US. Amazing results but I stuck to my surgeons plan with almost no deviations. Best thing I have ever paid for and I have no regrets. Worth every penny in my opinion since I am healthier and more active. Good luck in whatever your decision.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

      Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
