Recommended Posts

I got my sleeve in November and I have only lost 46 lbs and I still can't eat. I feel like I had the surgery for nothing. I exercise, I barely can take in food and I am losing soooooooo slow. Any one have tips to jumpstart the weight loss again?

you might be starving your body... you should try to eat more so your body doesnt go into starvation mode and hang on to everything. try to do things differently than your doing now to shake it up a bit...good luck

My first question is:

Why is it difficult for you to eat? What can/can't you eat? Have you discussed it with your surgeon and been scoped to ensure there is nothing going on internally?

Are you getting in your recommended Protein, fluids, Vitamins?

What are you eating?

Do you have a good post-op guideline?

Do you have access to a nutritionist?

Can you attend a local support group?

As for jumping starting your weight loss, if you are having trouble with foods, this could be the reason you aren't losing, especially if you are working out. Do you have any metabolic issues that could be causing slower weight loss? Thyroid/PCOS/insulin resistance? ??

How much weight do you need to lose? How many calories and what kind of foods are you eating ie carbs, fats and Protein? If you provide us with what you are eating on a daily basis plus how much weight you have to lose we might be able to help figure this out. As Tiff said do you have any disorders that would interfere with the weight loss?

I wonder why you can't eat, are you not hungry, does it hurt when you eat? Do you have a lot more weight to lose?

I also had my surgery in November and have lost exactly the same as you, 46 pounds (55 pounds with pre op) with another 70 pounds to go. I don't have trouble eating, I take in around 800-850 calories and keep my carbs 60 or under. I do eat healthy but have trouble getting all my Protein, I don't drink enough Water and have not exercised yet. I'm sure this is the cause of my slow weight lose. Which I am planning to work on but I think I am just a very slow loser, which is okay. Maybe see what else is going on, some things we can change and some things we can't but at least the scale is going down. Good luck, Janine

Don't feel bad, I'm 7 months out and have a total loss of 38.5 lbs. But I'm a low BMI'er....

Seems like this last 20 lbs are going to take years to lose....

Trust me, I feel your pain...I was sleeved on JAN 18th, weighing 194...Today I weigh 177. Thats only 17LBS in 2 months. I think my problem is not enough fluids. I sure as heck dont overeat, I believe overeating is impossible with the sleeve. Im just really down b/c I expected to be down atleast 25-30 pounds by now. At the rate im losing, I wont be down to the weight I want for months. If you had a lower BMI like me, this is probably why were losing so slow. Best of luck to you!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
