I do not ,even for a second, regret my surgery!

I do often still forget how slowly to eat, and regret my own stupidity when I get discomfort, or sliming.

I do often have a moment where the voices in my head are telling me that I'd be sooo much happier if I could just have a big old gorge on junk food, sweet stuff etc, and then I remember I can't do that and I maybe have 30 seconds of dissappointment that iit is no longer an option.

HOWEVER both of these things make me realise that with all to good will in the world I would still be unwittingly sabbotaging myself on any other eating plan because my body would not help me to curb my dumb thinking patterns.

Are there moments where a part of me would like to take some time out and eat my body weight in rubbush without consequence? Yes, a few. Are those moments significant enough to be troubling? No never. My only doubts have so far served to affirm why I needed this surgery to help me be happy.

Good luck in your choices xx

I Love hearing all of the replies, the good, the bad and the ugly. I have yet to hear anyone say they completely regret it. I am 6 days out, very tired - not a lot of energy at all. But I think that it's temporary. Keep the feedback coming!

It's been pretty easy for me. I don't regret it one bit. If I don't lose another pound (even though I hope I do) I won't regret it. I feel so good about myself and I do things I never could before!!

It has been 14 mos for me. I settled in a few lbs more than I want, but I look good. I feel pretty good, but not perfect. If I did it again I would see first why SO MUCH of my stomach would need to be taken. If anything I regret not trying something a little less drastic like taking half my stomach or 65%. I worry long-term that I'll be 80 and not able to eat or eat as well as at least can now. It would be less hassle if I had a little more room there.

But that said, if I didn't have the surgery I'd be miserable and unhealthy too......always regretted losing so much of my stomach though. This is really restrictive and sometimes hard to get enough food down even when it is great food. I think time will prove this surgery was a bit drastic on the size front.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
