Where are the Houston Sleevers!?!?!

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for my surgery on May 5, 2011. I am very excited, and not nervous for the surgery, except getting sick from anesthesia. But I am worried about not having a sounding board or someone going through the same journey. There are LapBand support groups here, and the VSG support groups meet once a week on a specific subject, but set up like a class. It would be really great to make some local friends to meet up with or have some accountability. Is there anyone in Houston, Texas looking for the same thing and want to give it a try?

Best,

Steven

I am from Houston and would love to start a group. I haven't been to any support groups yet because my revision specialist is downtown and it is too far for me to make it to the hospital or doctor's support groups on time with the traffic after work. Congrats on your upcoming surgery date!!!

I'll come...lets set a date and a place. Starbucks is too small. We need somewhere with some privacy. Ummmmm I-45? There is a Pappas Seafood on I-45 near West Road. Any better places? I think we should think of a time too. I can say that I have a family, so timing is everything. I could do a Tuesday night. Anyone ANyone?

I would love to come, but I-45 is a bit far for me and I have a family, too. I could meet in that area if it was on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon but probably not during the week. I live in Northwest Houston.

I'm actually in Tomball, which is more like Northwest. Name a place on 290 and I'll travel. I could do a late Saturday afternoon. Sunday is busy for us/church/cooking, etc.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
