Hi Everyone,

I'm 8 days post and wondering how long does it take for the steri strips to fall off. How long did yours stay on?

Hi! Monday I will be 2 weeks post op and I was wondering the same thing. And I totally forgot to ask my doc if the stiches will go away on their own or not. I would assume they would. But the strips are starting to drive me crazy itchy! Hope everything is going well so far with your post op recovery?

I never asked the dr. even if I had stitches under the strips. Some of the strips are starting to lift and shift. And I think the itchy feeling is the actual wounds healing. I tried to peek behind the strips that are lifting and the incision looks closed. And a speedy recovery to you too!!!

As an RN, I can confidently say take them off. At 8 days postop you should have healed enough not to need them anymore. They are just there to hold the incision together until it starts to heal.

My doc took them off at my first pre-op appointment... I was so worried that I would start gushing blood...don't worry I didn't! I think they would have stayed on for months! Surgeon said to use pure acetone to get rid of the fuzzy dirt of the steri strips outline it worked and I made hubby do it...I was so worried...

Mine where still on 14 days later on the larger insicions. I did some reading and found out it was OK to peel them off so I did (what was left)

my doc said let them fall off on their own, the stitches desolve and the strip will fall off. I am 21days post op, and I had 2 (the bigger ones) still on, I pulled one of them in the shower, and I bled! I said damn, I will let the other one fall off by itself instead. I guess everyone is different?

My dr peeled my off at my post-op appt 1 week out. Now I have a small rash near each one. Maybe a reaction to the sticky stuff. I have a slight allergy to latex. I was putting Mederma on them, but stopped because the rash was getting worse. Now I just let them be and they itch like crazy! The incisions all look good and I nothing oozing from them. Just a slight rash and a little irritation. The strips are only there to help make sure the incisions close. I used alcohol swabs from my dr's office. The nurse gave them to me. they are the ones that they use before administering a shot. Worked good to get all the sticky stuff off. Might also be what irritated my skin.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
