Insubordination...

Plan every day the night before.... If you are eating out every meal, (which we didn't), don't go to fast food...REFUSE to go to FF restaurants...

And for dinner...go seafood...it's yummy and it seems like the portions are generally smaller...less temptation. Oh, and I allowed myself one drink a day...So I made it large...and worth it.

Walking and sightseeing...or swimming in the ocean...all good exercise...I didn't feel the need to do extra exercise. For me it was all about feeling like I was still on vacation...but not breaking all of the rules!!!

Have a good time!!!

Rain

Insubordination,

I agree about the tyroid. I am an RN and have had a struggle with weight my entire life. Consequently, I've had my thyroid function tests done many times and they always came back normal. In fact, insurance demands that you have these tests done before they will OK the lapband surgery.

I stopped losing weight, felt tired all the time (working 12.5 hour night shifts doesn't help), noticed my pulse was very low, and felt faint. My cardiologist was the one who tied the low heart rate to an underactive thyroid and ordered the test. Hopefully, this dose of synthroid will bring my numbers back to a normal range.

Have a great vacation.

Thanks Rain. I will be eating out every meal so I'll have to be careful. Glad to see you've been through the worst Kimmie and that you're back safe and sound. You're going to succeed. I can tell from your results so far.

Elizabeth, I hope you get the right dosage and feel better soon. I bet it will help with the weight too.

I can't believe I'm only 6 pounds away from my first mini-goal...I've got another goal, to get down to 250 by the new year! I know I can do it...once I get the release from my doctor, I'll be exercising at the gym!

Hello Twoterville! I made it, I made it, I made it!!!! I told my husband this morning that I am finally at the weight I was at three years ago when he was working in Alabama for six months. He said he didn't know I had gained that much weight. I told him, "Hun, I gained 74lbs in the past three years." He said he NEVER would have guessed. Gotta love those disinterested hubbies sometimes!

CONGRATULATIONS FAITH!!! YOU MADE IT! :whoo::clap2:

I am back in control of what I eat and have been working hard to stay in a healthy eating pattern. It feels great to say no to bad foods and deal with temptations. I'm down another 2 pounds!

Thank you Elisabeth! Goodonya for getting control of your food demons and your loss, too!

I'm not totally in control yet, and don't think I'll make my challenge goal, but I'm so glad to be in Twoterville, I either won't care, or it will motivate me more and I'll really push on!

I'm hoping for the latter, but since it's been three years since I've been here, I'll be happy for the former for now. I had gained up to 347 about three years ago, and while DH was away, I really worked hard and lost to 297. But then he came back, I got complacent, and gained it all back plus some. I met him somewhere around 270-280 (I think), so I still have a way until I am in virgin territory with him (virgin WEIGHT territory, I mean). I need to go see my PCP and ask her to go over my weights over the past ten or twelve years so I can see what I weighed when. Might be kind of cool.

Breaking out of the 300's is a wonderful milestone and it does wonders for your motivation. My highest was 440 and I got down to about 195. My Dad was ill and I ended up living in the ICU for a solid month until he died. During that time my focus was him and not me or food so the weight piled back on. When I hit 350 pounds again, I looked into this surgery.

I truly believe that successful weight loss is in your head. Something "clicks" and the losses motivate the desire for continued losses. If you can get into this "mode" it really does become a habit. I finally feel like I'm back in a good place and think I will easily make my goal by the end of the month. I like to do achievable goals (no more than 2 pounds per month) so I can experience success. Anything extra is a real bonus.

Keep doing what you're doing because it's working! Congratulations on kissing the 300's bye-bye!

Finally, the scale moved. I am struggling like crazy...I suppose this is what they call Bandster Hell. I adjusted my goal as I have thought all along I was going for 20lbs...but I had 23 written instead. That's all well and good, but I am struggling to make 20...

Can't wait until my fill on 10/11...

Good luck, everyone!

I'm in awe right now...kinda getting teary eyed, as I have never accomplished anything like this. Setting a goal, and ALMOST reaching it! I have no doubt I'll reach it within the next week and a half! I'll have to come up with a good goal for October next! WOOT!!!

Congrats everyone that's losing...ya'll rock!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
