I needed to read some of this. I thought I was just crazy! I went from a size 18/20 to a 2 and still feel like I'm fat. I know I'm not, I'm 5'7 and have never been a size 2, in fact I only wanted to be a 12. It scares me that I will begin having problems from being too skinny, I am often told I am too skinny. I just don't see it. I don't have much hanging skin just a lot of stretch marks and no boobs. I've always had boob so that bothers me. I wouldn't go back to a plus size again but I want to feel normal. I can't tell my friends that I still see fat, they would really think I was nuts. I have a call in to the shrink I saw before my surgery maybe he can help.

Maybe because I didn't have a weight problem until my 40s, I didn't really see myself as obese, even when I was over 300 pounds. I had the surgery because I want to have knee replacement surgery and have to be 180 pounds maximum for it to be really successful. I've only lost around 90 pounds so far, but even at 227 pounds I feel sexy. I have the saggy skin, turkey neck, and saggy boobs, but so what. I don't have to take medication for my diabetes and blood pressure anymore, and I think I look good. I probably will have surgery eventually to get rid of the turkey neck, but in the meantime I get to buy a lot of pretty, new clothes. When I reach a size 16, I'll feel like I've made it. I was a size 8 most of my adult life, but that was then. I'll never be what I was when I was in my early 40s, but I'm a lot better than I was two years ago. Healing from this very difficult surgery and reaching your goal weight are huge accomplishments. We should all be proud of ourselves for the courage and determination it has taken to get so far.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
