I hear ya!! Stalls are noooo fun! I'm not stalled right now, but it seems like I lose every other week, which can be frustrating sometimes. I think you are just at the dreaded 3 week stall and things will move SOON!!!

In two days I will be at the 4th week of stall (only had the sleeve done 6 weeks ago)... I just started back at the gym last night, so hoping for a break soon! For the last 20 years I have been a slow loser, so why should that be dif now! I do look better and people are noticing, so its ok. Can't last forever!

OK, so officially I have been on a plateau between 224-226 lbs for 20 days. I am almost 6 weeks out, so this is the dreaded three week stall... started at three weeks, and lasted for three weeks too! I probably weigh myself too often, but even if I weigh once a week, I would still stay the same for three weigh ins. I'm pretty sure I am doing everything I should. The body is just saying NO right now. I get to start going to the gym again in a few days... so Im hoping that will boost the loss. Wah Wah Wah! Thanks for letting me cry a little!sad.gif

I am starting to see smaller numbers, and looser clothing too... after my weight dipping and spiking in the same territory. I think it is from eating a little more. SO GLAD. I do love this sleeve and I am feeling great!

Great!! After awhile (at least in my case) I got used to the stalls, then drops. My weight will stall for a few weeks then I'll have a few weeks where I lose .5 - 2.5 Lbs per day. I take it all and hug um an' kiss um and call um my sweethearts. ;)

Hello this is my 1st time posting on this discussion board. I need advice from the best experts: EXPERIENCE!!! I had my vertical sleeve 2/10/11. My start off weight on the day of surgery was 239. I am now down to 210. HOWEVER, I have not gone done or up on my weight over the last two weeks. I know that this surgery is not a quick fix, and my weight loss is going to take time, but I am so paranoid that I did something wrong, such as over stretching my stomach. I seriously dont think I eat 800 calories a day. Did this happen to anyone? I just thought that this is too soon to stall. Any advice would be appreciated.

I hate stalls. I'm currently in one that has lasted so far since November. Getting frustrated is probably an under statement. I'm going to take my measurements on Friday to see where I am from a month ago. Hopefully those have gone down at least. I'm 14 months post op. I am exercising at least 5 days a week and get probably 1200 calories a day in although honestly, I don't count my calories. The scale will have to move eventually..

How much have you lost I 14 months ???????

I am losing very slow and only 6 weeks in ,,,,,,

:0)))) xx

Hi Breanna, nope what you are experiencing is what majority of the others of us do. I'd say that anyone who doesn't stall ever is quite rare. Your down 29 Lbs!!!! Celebrate them. When they collect more, Celebrate those too... until then relax and enjoy the ride. :)

My doctor said we will lose the most quickly during the first few months as you all know, and women tend to lose for 12-14 months BUT he also said there is no reason one cannot lose indefinitely if one follows the program. It's the following the program that get harder the farther out one goes I think. I stall pretty much 2-3 weeks every month and still keep losing weight. It's frustrating for that scale to stay the same 3 weeks in a row-pretty much every month, but it does eventually start coming off.

It doesnt look like you are getting enough Protein, perhaps you had too many carbs/sugar, and the bacon is usually pretty salty. That two pounds should come right off if you adjust those things I would think... also if the tea has caffein, that might be causing you to get dehydrated....

Boy, have I been there and done that! Even went out and bought new scales because I just knew the old ones were wrong. Recently, we went on vacation for 10 days and I had no scale. besides we were in Nevada, New mexico, and Arizona and I had no time to worry about weighing. Well, I cheated a couple of times at those casino restaurants and dreaded coming home to my scale and seeing that I had gained weight but to my surprise I had lost 4 pounds and 2 more since getting home. I guess I'll always be one of those "weigh everyday" people but not weighing for 10 days sure did boost my ego when I got home!

I keep thinking I'm a slow loser, but my surgeon says not. 35lbs since my journey started with the 10 pre-op and has been 10 weeks today since my surgery. But I was hoping for more....lol. I had to increase my calories a bit to get things moving, and now that the weather is a bit nicer in Michigan I've been better with my exercise.

But even though it seems I stall 2 out of every 4 weeks, I measure the inches during that stall....when I checked last week I'm down 17-3/4" as in HOLY SH*T! That's huge.....or was huge. Makes me wonder how I ever squeezed myself into these clothes because they aren't even close to falling off yet, well maybe some of the shirts.

The absolute best thing ever.......even though I stall, I know for sure that it is 35lbs that I will never see again. So what if it takes twice as long to lose it, less saggy skin and gone forever?!? I'll take that!

I am so glad to read am so glad to hear this from you all. I really thought I had done something horribly wrong as the reason for not losing any more than the first 20 lbs after surgry four weeks ago.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
