what type of calcium do you take?

Recommended Posts

HI,

I am trying to find a Calcium supplement you do not have to divide into three or more doses a day if possible. I have tried Celebrate berries and cream chewables and did not like them. I can swallow pills, even large one no problems, I just want to make sure I am taking the right kind so I am looking for everyone to please tell me what type of calcium you are taking and at what dosage.

Thank you to everyone who responds.

once you have your surgery there is a calcium citrate that you can buy at MEDCO store an online drug store

where I get my medications from has it in a liquid form and it has a fruit flavor to it...check it out and make sure its what the nutritionist say you can take...

I purchased a liquid calcium citrate from Swanson (which advertises on this site) and we have taken many of their Vitamins in the past. I tasted it on my finger at first and it has a super strong, lemony flavor. I knew I couldn't stand it straight, so I mixed it with some Water and even a little sugar, as it was very sour, and drank a small amount. Immediately it felt like it was burning my stomach! It scared me.

The directions say you can mix it with your juice, but now I'm a little afraid of what it will do to my stomach at 21 days after surgery.

So, bottom line I would be careful of this product.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
