How long will soreness lat at port site?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 6-19-06 and have not had any problems with the exception of soreness at the port site. I did expect this and i'm please that this is my only issue so far. I have been walking 5 to 7 minutes about 5 times per day since 2nd day.

Thanks to all,

Dwayne

I think I was sore for like 3 to 4 days, not bad at all.

Welcome to Bandland and good luck on your journey!

I was what I'd call "sore" for about 2 weeks if I twisted funny or used my abs heavily. By 4 weeks I felt 100% -- so much so that I didn't even believe I had a port until they did my first fill! :)

My port area was also a little sore for a couple of weeks. Even now it feels a little tender at times. But it does get a lot better.

I was banded June 8th and my port area is still tender, especially if I poke at it or lay on it the wrong way.

I was banded on 4/10/06 and I felt port site pain for 2 to 3 weeks. Even now I know when the weather is going to change-I get some pain.

Good Luck,

Jessica

I was doing pretty good until I did some gardening at 3 weeks post-op, lots of bending over, some lifting. Then severe pain. Doc said I tore some of the scare tissue and a nerve ending was very unhappy, which meant that when I bent over it was like lightening bolting thru my belly. It lasted just 24 yrs and then it just went away. Then I was sore for about 3 more weeks. Not bad, just a little discomfort. Suggestion: don't do too much bending over or lifting until you are sure you are OK.

How do you know when you need a fill? Even though my food sticks a lot (BECAUSE OF STRESS) I am quite hungry and can eat a lot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
