Hi There. I don't know how I missed this forum, but I am a March sleever too and am down 50lbs. I'm a slower looser according to my surgeon, but I feel great with my progress. I'm exercising very regularly when life doesn't throw me curve balls. Still trying to figure out how to make exercise a priority when other big life events/crisis, etc distract from the weight-loss health goals and my "normal" routines. I think learning to live with this is a real process that will only come with time. I'm getting a lot of compliments lately, which I've never been good with accepting. So I'm trying to navigate my way through that and learn to be gracious and not cut a joke about it. It's almost like I don't want people to notice because I'm so self conscious about it. Does that make sense? So those area the things I'm currently working on in this journey, but I'm absolutely happy and confident I made the right decision to have this surgery!

Hi, Y'all! Just wanted to check in! I'm down 57.2 lbs since starting my pre-op diet! WooHoo!! I started the c25k the beginning of June and my weight loss slowed until this past week! BUT, my body shape has changed a lot and I'm loving running again! I'm registered for my first 5k the end of September! I'm lovin' my sleeve!!

Just wondering how everyone is doing? Is anyone feeling real physical hunger?...I am not nearly as satisfied with the small amounts of food anymore. I REALLY have to watch what I am eating and even then still feel hungry. I hate feeling hungry and I'm scared that I will completely stop loosing or worse gain back. I'm exercising a lot, but the scale is not moving much now.I think my body got use to a certain # of calories and now having to adjust down again is hard because again I'm hungry!

Hi Purple Tulip. I am right there with you. Hungry and have been in a 6 week stall. Very frustrating. I keep thinking I should go back on liquids again for a short time just to get the scale to move, but the thought of it makes me cringe! I do go to a support group once a month and there seems to be the group that has never been hungry since the sleeve and then the group that has to really watch every calorie that goes in their mouth. I guess I am going to always be one of those! But I am determined to get to my goal!

Hey all, I guess maybe the stall is popular right now. I think I just broke it though. It all depends upon what I eat - if I don't eat enough I don't lose any weight. I'm lucky that I don't have hunger pains but that is bad too because I forget to eat sometimes. My biggest problem though is heartburn - I've never had it in my life and it just started a couple weeks ago and it is wicked - any advice?

Casselcom..have you tried any of the over the counter stuff, like Prilosec? I did end up getting a prescription from my PCP but she says it is about the same as taking Prilosec (or Omeprazole is the generic name I think) 2 times a day. I haven't really had a problem with heartburn since I started, so it works for me.

Where are my March Girls....Its almost the holiday season...are you guys prepared for all of the holiday temptations? Do you have a plan on how to overcome the gauntlet of food on Thanksgiving?

SleeveStalker- I started running in races a couple of months ago, so Thanksgiving morning I am going to run in a Turkey Trot so hopefully that will help with any additional calories that particular day. We will also be traveling for that week, so I'm going to pack a cooler just for myself filled with good things (if I have to haul diaper bags, sippy cups and Nintendo Ds's and all the other stuff that comes with kiddos, it's the least I can do to be prepared for myself too ;) Then I think I'll find a few healthy festive recipes to make, so I can indulge a bit and not feel deprived either. And luckily, I have a couple family members that are health nuts and I'm thinking I need to stick closer to them and try to somewhat avoid the trap of those family members who tend to be my old "eating buddies" and sabotagers.....So that's my Thanksgiving plan...Christmas is a whole different story because the family I will be with then is less health conscious and they are food pusher...so I'll have to regroup and be very prepared to hold my own for that one ;) What are you doing to prepare? Any other ideas?

PurpleTulip,

I follow Skinnytaste.com and theworldaccordingtoeggface.com Both of these ladies can cook. Since I have had my surgery I am always looking for new healthier recipes that I can feed the family with and feed myself. Gina at Skinnytaste has lots of holiday recipes out right now. I tried her sweetpotato casserole it was amazing and not soaking in sugar and butter. Who would have thought you could make sweetpotatoes healthier..lol If you have time check them out...I know you will love them!

Thanks! I do follow eggface, but not skinnytaste, so I will check her out. Yesterday, I already had one of my family member sabbotagers (who also had a WLS, who is not doing as well with it) telling me all of the foodie plans she has for Thanksgiving and she was attempting to get me on board....This of course right after I had told her I went down another pant size... Ugh. It's so much easier to fight the fight with other people on the same page.

I've been in a really bad food slump for a while. I've lapsed back into some bad habits and am working on getting out of them. Also need to get off my bum and start working out again. I've been at about the same weight for a couple of months (plus or minus a couple of pounds).

I'm hoping once I get over this weight and stress hurdle that things will get back on track.

Hi everyone!!! My surgery was March 7th. I am doing good. I just started C25K (Like today) I am down a total of 80 pounds with another 18 to go. Did very well over Thanksgiving. I will do the same over Christmas. I think my biggest temptation will be at work. I am the only one out of 300 + employees that has had WLS. And this time of year everybody brings in there grandmothers, aunts, and mothers favorite receipes. We will see what my final numbers are on12/31. I want to lose 1/2 of the 18 befor the end of the year. :ihih: Fingers crossed and staying focused.

Deb

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
