I always hit the odds!

Recommended Posts

Well I had my follow up appointment today and I was given a perfect bill of health. Which as some of you may know is a blessing at this point. I sat and talked with my doctor about my experience over the last couple of weeks and he informed me that he has never seen a patient develope a leak the way I did at a month out. Why is it I always hit the odds when it comes to rare events? I wish the odds would fall in my favor for the lotto. LoL Anyway My leak is healed my pneumonia is gone and my lung has opened back up. I am back to myself for the most part..

Such great news!!! I wonder if it was there the whole time? Do you think something happened that made you leak so late or it just didn't heal right? I remember my first C-section I had a stable get twisted and it opened up within a few days. Could have been something like that.

The doctor thinks it was just a pin size hole that overtime turned into a bigger problem.. I had a drain tube in for a week and never had any problems with the purple koolaid showing up in the bulb. Sometimes things just happen for unexplained reasons. I am just glad that I am back on track and loosing again!!

Oh wow, so how did you know something was wrong? How far out when you had symptoms.

I am so glad you are recovering well.......why do you think your recovery is going so smooth??? Did you have surgery near you or far away? How did you get help?

So many questions.

So glad you are feeling better! Yep, you sure did hit the lotto -- next time, you gotta try a big lotto just to see if the odds are still with you  But, seriously, I'm sooo glad you're better!

I'm so happy you recovered! I've never had that happen to me except for pneumonia but it must be pretty bad! Yup the odds at the lottery would be great huh? anyhow keep doing well with your health and the best of luck with your weight loss! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
