Hip bones hip bones, themmm hip bones

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what is going on here but, I have in recent weeks, been awakened in the middle of the night by sharp pains in my hip bone socket region. At first I thought it was a fat roll getting pinched in the wrong position, anyone who has been super fat knows what I mean. But that wasn't it, I think that it is actually the pressure of the hip bone, making itself known, pressing into the bed!! I reach down to feel with my hand, there's nothing in there, just my hip and the bed, and the bed is topped with a 4 inch thick piece of foam!

My knees and ankles are still well padded, unfortunately, but apparently my hips when lying on my stomach, aren't!

Since I've lost alot of weight i have terrible hip pain especially in the left hip area. Went to get a bone density test and there is some artheritis but not too bad but the wear and tear on it isn't bad either. I don't, and neither does the doctor, know what is going on. She just tells me to take ibuprophen. . . ugh it's age! I did have a bad accident when i was younger however (legs got caught on a hurdle while i was doing track causing the hipbone to pop out of the socket) and so now i'm wondering if this is whats bothering it now. . . did you have any problems when you were younger?

As a matter of fact, my hip bones have always pained me. I was a competitive swimmer in my youth and my stroke was breastroke, which pivots the hips outward into an unnatural position and wreaks havoc on the joints. My hips hurt generally, but this thread was in relation to the fact that bones and joints are starting to emerge from their swaddling layers of fat, thereby causing odd "problems" related to no longer having the extra cushioning. Sitting in a chair for 10 hours a day I KNOW doesn't help matters, groan!!

You are definately right there! Sitting is a real pain in the "hip". . . .

Not sure this is related, but it might be something you can try...

A couple of weeks ago, I was taking a Pilates class and we were laying on our side and I had a sharp pain at my hip while I was lay on that side. We switched sides and the pain appeared on the other side as well. To the point where i could not do the exercise.

The instructor said I need to stretch my IT-Band muscle. It's the muscle the goes down the side of your leg from your hip all the way down. I looked it up on You Tube and found several examples and different ways to stretch this muscle.

This may not be your issue, but it might alleviate pain in that area.

My spine's really prominent in the lumbar/lower thoracic area now, it kind of freaks me out when I run my hand up my back and feel these huge vertebrae. I remember falling off a horse on a pile of pointy gravel pretty hard a few years ago and landing right on my lower back. At 200 lbs, I came out with just muscle spasms and a bad bruise on my lower back, but I bet if it happened now, I'd definitely crack a vertebra!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
