Not too Happy with my Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

My advice is just stay positive, stay focused, and stick to the plan your doc prescribed. I was stalled for about 8 days and getting SO frustrated. And then I decided to really truly focus on getting in enough fluids and Protein and BAM! I have lost 5 more lbs in about 5 days or so. Also I fully believe that the body loses and then kind of takes a break to recalibrate before we lose again.

I also remind myself that the one time I lost 30 lbs I was working out furiously for 4-6 months and also watching what I ate. Now I do stay on a somewhat strict diet thank to the sleeve and needing Protein and a certain amt of Water, but my exercise is simply walking. It's apparently enough to make the weight come off and I am happy with that! :)

I am so frustrated I could scream. I am 9 weeks out, about 2 weeks ago I started taking the pill for pcos and my weight shot up 4 pounds in two days and stayed. I quit taking the pill a week later and my weight has not budged a bit. I am not cheating, I keep my carbs under 30 grms a day. I added my calories up and I was averaging 550 to 600 hundred a day. So I tried upping my calories the last 2 days. I managed to get an extra 100 in each day and for all that work I gain another pound! I exercise 30 minutes each morning. (step)

What the heck is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must be so frustrated! You are doing very well, just keep it up and things will work themselves out.

I've lost 19 pounds in almost 4 weeks and I actually think it is a LOT. I think people are expecting it to all drop off suddenly and it is dropping off pretty fast. But it's also perspective. I look at someone who lost 18 pounds in a month and think wow. But reading other people dropping 30 pounds in a month will heighten expectations. They may lose slower the next few months. Let the body do it's own thing as long as you are doing yours, be happy with it! who would lose 18 pounds in a month on weightwatchers? Hah, not me!

The thing is, we often think we stall around week 2 or 3 but I think that's because our bodies are adjusting to surgery and the sudden 1st or 2nd week of massive weight loss. The body thinks "woahh, slow down a bit" and then it's off again. Be positive and look to the future, don't get stuck on numbers cos in the long run, this will be but a distant memory!

Excellent post! I couldn't agree more. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
