Hi ....I currently have the lap-band and I had it done in the US but now I am having problems with it . I now want to get the Sleeve and cant pay for it in the U.S. I want to go to Mexico but I dont know what doctor to choose or what city is the best or what doctor works out of the best hospital. Also I see that there are price differences from 5000 to 9000 ..............should I go with the one that cost the most ? Does this means because they cost more that they are better ....................PLEASE HELP ME .

There are many people on this board that were sleeved by Dr. Aceves in Mexiali. He is a fabulous doctor and very experienced. The hospital is very nice, even though it's small. They will pick you up at the airport in San Diego.< /p>

You will have 3 leak tests and other lab work as well as an EKG and chest x ray. I can't say enough wonderful

things about him and is staff.

Just ask around and you won't find one unhappy patient of his.

I had my sleeve plication done by Dr. Juan Corvala in Tj. They picked me up at the airport in San Diego and brought me to Hospital Angeles. Had a great experience. No problems. I had surgery in July of last year and have lost 54 lbs so far.

Dr Aceves is 8750 and you WILL NOT FIND A BETTER TEAM! He's amazing. The hospital is private and so clean, much cleaner than the US. You don't hear about him having leaks or not taking care of his patients like you do some of the 5k Drs. You just can't go wrong with him.

Price is definitely NOT something you want to base your decision on. Revisions are complicated, and you need a true revision surgeon with tons of revision experience.

With a revision, your risks for complications quadruple especially with leaks.

You'll pay a little more since you are revision and not a virgin sleeve.

I had my surgery in the states at a military hospital so I can not help you with personal experience. But, I can tell you that if insurance would not have paid, Dr. Aceves is the ONLY Mexican surgeon that I would have allowed to do my revision.

Dr. Barker in the Dallas area did both my WLS. He charged me $5000 for the revision (I was self-pay for this portion), but I also had my gall bladder removed which my insurance paid for. He is a VERY experienced surgeon and I highly recommend him.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
