Starting 2 week liquid diet tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I posted this in Tell Your Story by mistake so I am reposting it here. I am scheduled for my vsg surgery on Monday January 17 so I have to start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow. For the next 2 weeks I will be living on 3-4 Protein Shakes, sugarfree drinks, plain eggs and low fat cheese per day. I am so nervous and scared that I won't be able to do it. Any suggestions and tips to help me make through these next 2 weeks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen

Jen, I started my two weeks last Tuesday Dec 28th. I will tell you the first 3 days are rough but then it gets better. You are lucky...I can only have 3 Protein shakes but all the Water, tea and cystal light I want. NO egg or cheese or anything else. One thing is you do lose weight! Yay BUT I've been going to bed early just to get away from the Kitchen! LOL

GOOD LUCK!!!

Just echoing what HopeAndFaith said. It gets so much better after day 3. I think it takes a couple of days to acclimate. You can do it!!

Thank God I've been lucky with mine. I'm on day 7 and tomorrow is the pre surgery diet, Surgery is on Wednesday.

I've been drinking my instant Breakfast, and drinking chicken broth when I get hungry and Jello to keep the chewing sensation going.

Keeping the stomach full with liquid helps the hunger, I haven't really been hungry, but I'm wearing out the carpet walking to the bathroom....

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
