My husband bought 2 large Smart Water bottles and that is supposed to be my daily goal. I have had about 1 today. Working on the second. I can't imagine being able to consume that much water when I take 1 small sip and feel all of the gas bubble right back up.

Someone please tell me this gets easier!!

It gets a lot easier! I had that same gassy, burpy feeling at first, but it got better. Also, if I have a hard time, I focus more on water than Protein. My feeling is that dehydration is worse for you than not getting quite enough protein. Hope that helps!!!

Ok i'm just about 3 months out and I can maybe get in 30 oz of fluids a day! that is everything including my half cafe in the morning and whatever else i drink all day! I can take almost normal sips, but it is too darn cold to want to drink Water, and I cannot drink coffee all day, I will be up all night even with Decaf and the twins! So, what do I do! I miss my between the band/sleeve days when I could chug a lug like a drunk sailor! down those 24 oz bottles of waters in 2 gulps! now if i take too big a sip i'm in pain for like 20 minutes and crying! will i ever be able to drink normal again???

Drinking Water is as close to a religion as the granola crowd has! And yet almost all experts agree that most people get most of their Water from food and other beverages.

As always, you should listen to your doctor/nutritionist. But the idea that you have to be chain-swigging glass after glass of clear water to avoid "dehydration" (and by the way, slightly dark urine or dry mouth or even slightly crepe-paper skin is NOT the same thing as clinical dehydration! -- which exhibits with things like nausea, confusion, and death) is probably more than a little bit silly.

It's ironic that we Americans (overgeneralizing here, but I get the impression that most on this board are Americans) worry way too much about things that aren't very likely (dehydration) or aren't -- in the grand scheme of things -- very dangerous, and not enough about things that ARE likely killers (heart disease, diabetes, smoking-related illnesses, cancer).

LOL! that is REdonkulous! Actually a guy cousin of mine used ice water to speed up his weight loss. the Doc told him that the body has to work to warm up the water once it's in your system so it actually helps you burn more calories!

I just asked my dr about this the other day. How do you know if you are drinking enough? I said. Say you have a 16-20 bottle of Water of some kind, how long should it take you to drink it? His answer to me was. If you take a sip every minute or two you should be drinking at least 30 oz in one hour. Yes i had the same look on my face, but its true, or so he says so.

I have always heard in the past you should drink 64 oz of Water in a day plus 8 oz for every 20 lbs you want to loose. Hmmmm Maybe it was true all along.

There is no denying that drinking water is good for you. I have always thought the 64 oz. a day seemed a little ridiculous. Here is an article that explains where that rule may have come from and takes a real commonsense approach to water consumption.

If you take a "sip" every two minutes, and can drink 30 oz in an hour, that makes that "sip" an oz. That is chugging in my book. I can't drink an oz at a shot ...yet anyway. I can drink a cup an hour... maybe a little less... thats 8 ozs an hour. In the old days I could drink 30 oz an hour, but not hour after hour after hour...blink.gif

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
