I am thinking of having this procedure and i have a few questions....Is there alot of pain involed? Can they take my galbladder out @ the same time ( i have been dignosed with galstones )? How can i find out if my insurance will cover it? How long will i have to off from work? SORRY about all the questions but i didnt know who else to ask...everyone else i know that has had WLS has had the gastric bypass...but that just worries me....i want my body to still do what it is supposed to do..i am fairly young (32) and i am gonna have to live a long time with my decision ( hopefully ) and i want to live as "normal" as possible....please give me any advice you think might help me....thanks

Missy

the pain wasnt that bad. the first 3 days were the worst. i was more sore than anything and bloated from the gas...

yes they can take your gallbladder out at the same time.

to find out about your ins get your ins card and call the number on the back of the card. ask them if your policy cover the band, what %, what are the requirements, tests..

i had surgery on a monday and worked that friday.

if i were you i'd search through the old posts on this site. most of your questions will probably be answered!

yeah i would ask your dr. do you mean laproscopic surgery? that is several small incisions. if they can only do it 'open' i dont see why they couldnt still place the band. but that will be something you and the dr will have to work out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
