HELLOOO INDIANA! ha

My name is Brandi. I am from SE Indiana... very small town (blink and you miss it) I am down on the Ohio River near Cincinnati, OH...

I don't know if any of you are close to me, but thought I would say hello.

Good luck to those of you getting ready for surgery, and congrats to all of you who already have the band. :-)

I am scheduling my surgery this next week, and can't wait to get started.

Hi Brandi!

I am close to the river to...just a little more south, closer to Louisville. I am still tossing it around as far as having surgery. Just about the time I decide, something comes along to change my mind! Like reading about MGB surgery. It costs more, but sounds like it is easier to adjust to. Not as popular yet as lapband...but I wonder if it may be easier on the body and easier to adapt to. Guess I have tons more research to do!

Hi!

The doctor I work for is W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! You can check him out on www.lapbandindiana.com and plan on maybe coming to one of our seminars. That is the best way to get started in the whole band journey!! I also have a band and it has been very successful for me. Please email me if you have any other questions!

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, so bear with me. I live in Valparaiso, IN. I had my surgery in Merrillville, IN by Dr. Paul Stanish. My surgery date was 5/25/06 and I've lost 41# to date. The hospital has a monthly support group, but none of his lap band patients go, only the gastric by-pass patients. They made me feel so bad because they lose weight like crazy, it just melts off, and I'm struggling to lose 41 measely pounds. So I haven't been back to a meeting. It seems that I have good days and bad ones. Does anyone else? Some days I so desperately want to eat everything in site that I overeat and then throw up. Then some days I graze all day long. Then some days I do great. I have been exercizing 5 days a week. I had hoped my band was going to be a miracle cure, not just a tool:phanvan ! Help Me!

Hi Tammyrn!

I'm from Portage! I've done ok with my band, this is the only support group I've been involved with. I have good and bad days; alot of frustrating ones since my last fill. Sometimes I just want to eat whatever goes through easily (usually the bad stuff) just to sooth me mentally.

I've had a decent loss that I attribute mostly to my job. It is very physical and I'm on my feet for 8-9 hours, sometimes without lunch. I do alot of lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking. I'm not sure how well I'd do without "forced" exercise!

Hi Lori,

We do lots of fills for Hoosiers - don't know how far you are from Cincy. Dr. Jeff Allen in Louisville does fills also I believe.

Good luck!

Hi, I'm Cat from a tiny town in South Central IN. I've made up my mind to do the lap band. I think I'm ready emotionally and mentally to give up my binging and learn a new lifestyle. Now I just have to see how long it takes to get in to see the doctor and how long for insurance to okay it.

I'm so excited to hear all the positive people on here and also the losses from all sizes of banders. I guess I will be starting out in the HUGE catagory and working my way down. I don't think I've been normal BMI in 40 years.

I would love to find others in the area that might want to form a support group. I have good support here at home, but I'm betting that it may take another bander to relate to some of it.

Thanks for being here!

hugs...cat

Cat:clap2:

Good for you! It definately sounds like you are on the right track! If you need anything else, let me know. Try to start logging your food by now:hungry: . It will be easier when you have to do it later. Eat on small plates.

Ask your doctor's office for a name of a fellow bander that might be willing to start an email correspondence with you:help: . That in turn might start a great friendship and/or small support group in itself for you!

And last but not least-keep believing in yourself. YOU can do this. Stay motivated!!!!! :girl_hug: Even when it gets rough, you can pull through it!!:)

Keep me posted,

Big hugs,

Tanya

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
