I'm fourteen days out from being sleeved......my question how to handle Thursday? My mom and sisters know I've been sleeved but we are going over my aunts house for dinner and she is easily insulted if you do not try her different dishes. I think I'm going to fake the flu and stay home because I have two cousins that I do not want to know I had WLS both have had the RNY and have gained all of their weight back and then some.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can handle my family? They are going to ask questions if I do not eat my favorite pumkin pie.............or should I stick to my fake sick plan...lol:rolleyes:

Thanks for any suggestions

I have not been sleeved yet, but I think I would go with the sick plan, it is going to be too hard to expain this early on, and I see you don't want the judgement of your cousins as well.

I say go and eat what you are suppose to! I think it is really sad that people think Thanksgiving is about the food! It is really about being thankful for all the blessings we have. Go! spend time with your family. Explain to your aunt that the food looks and smells delicious and you are so grateful to have her and then tell her that you won't be able to eat but you wanted to be with her and the rest of the family onThanksgiving. That is just my two cents...what ever you decide Happy Thanksgiving! You have a new sleeve to be thankful for!

I too say go to spend time with your family but if you really don't want anyone to know you can just say that you aren't feeling that great! Good Luck!

Oh my, thats a hard one! I think I might fake sick in that situation... it would be hard to stick with liquids, and skip the pie... and unless you have the kind of relationship with your aunt and cousins where you can be right up front with what you are doing, impossible to sit there and not say anything without arousing suspicion. Better just send your regrets and promise to attend next year when you can have a taste or two of the nice dishes. By then the cousins will know somethings up anyway!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
