You do realize that you are up 8 pounds due to the massive amounts of fluids given during surgery? Right???? Give it some time, you will lose that in no time. Glad to hear the pain is manageable.

Horray for being on the Loser Bench! :P

Hi just to let you know I am about 15 days out and you should know it is normal to feel hungry. This is probably the only thing I wasn't prepaired for and thanks to a nurse at the hospital that had the surgery she let me know that was very normal and that she ate the cream Soups to help with that and it really did help. It calms your stomach so that you don't feel starving.

Congrats on your surgery going well! ! ! Your body was pumped full of fluids for the surgery so don't worry about the slight gain, you'll lose that plus some in no time ! ! ! As for hunger, that hormone is still in your body, liquids in, liquids out rule applies, and your nerves have been cut, stapled off, and you aren't going to get a full sensation this early out. The thicker liquids will help with this, but don't be too alarmed, the hunger will decrease ! ! ! Just keep sipping and walking ! ! !

I wonder how much bigger your stomach was compared to everyone else?

Congrats on your surgery :) My advise would be NOT to step on the scale for AT LEAST a week.

I really really wish I would have had the doctor take some pictures of mine before and after...see if your surgeon will do that humpty :)...seriously! it shouldn't be a problem since they are already using a camera to guide them. I think it would have helped me big time to understand things a lot better (gas pain, drinking, etc.).

I woke up hungry in recovery as well. I actually dealt with VERY severe hunger my entire first week. I still have hunger at 5 months + post op... but it's a much more manageable hunger. once I was on mushies it got better, and on solids even better.

I dont know humpty, i am a light weight in comparison, so he says, weighed in at 219 and 5'5", but he said he was shocked at the size of my stomach... so, I wonder if there are super obese patients with small stomachs.. Huh, I asked him if he took a pictrure with his camera phone and he said he didn't LOL...

Thanks Christie, i watched your videos, they were so inspirational, i am 3 days post now and still hungry, but now i have this ping kinda pain in my lower right side that is aggravating me, always worried about a leak, did you worry constantly about leaking or is it just me. I do hope the hunger is more manageable down the road. thanks for listening.....vicki~

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
