Final Kaiser Options Class

Recommended Posts

So tonight was the last of our Kaiser Options class and I am super happy. All I have to do it wait about a week or so to get the authorzation to meet the surgeon. I was hoping to get the sleeve done at Pacific Bariatric in San Diego but I was told the wait list is now 6 months. The instructor told our class that San Joaquin Hospital contract in Bakersfield should be approved soon so it looks like that's the hospital that I will be getting it done. Hopefully in the 2 months I should be having the surgery done. I will cross my fingers and hope for a January date.

I did my classes in Bakersfield. You should find out if you can have your surgery done here since the wait time should be less than Pacific Barriatric.

Our location is crazy....Were you able to do your labs before your class ended?

I found out that some locations got to do there labs before options ended yet our location had to wait...also I have talked to people that got to pick the location where they went and ours says that Kaiser picks for us. I am not sure whats up with that but I dont like the incosistancy!! Pacific use to have the shortest wait time but now they are very backed up with Kaiser patients <_<

I had my class in Bakersfield and we got all of our labs and test done before the class ended. They told us we could pick but since San Joaquin Hospital is about to open soon in Bakersfield tha Kaiser will not reimburse you for travel or lodging if u choose a different hospital.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
