having my 1st "trouble" with something I ate

Recommended Posts

Mixed up some instant mashed potatoes, and maybe they weren't liquidy enough? I am not feeling well. Just kinda feel like a heavy feeling in my stomach since I had them. Didn't eat that much, but the consistency was not liquid enough, I think. Ugh.. feels yuk. How long til it goes away? Anyone? Should I drink something or no? :thumbup1:

I have something every day that makes me feel gassy. I'm almost at puree stage so I try a bite of eggs.. or cottage cheese.. and within 5 minutes my belly is blah. Doesn't hurt, but can definitely feel the pressure. So I pop in a Gas-X strip and in about 30-45 minutes I feel better. Get used to that feeling.. it will be with you until your body finally adjusts. Its trial and error and your body just needs time to adjust. =)

Early on I had problems in transitions to more solid foods. First of all let me just say over time things get much easier--even if I start to overdo it I can feel full and not hurt like I used to for the first few weeks on solids. It has to do with the stomach healing completely and not being as sensitive. It has been a couple of months now that I have avoided the foaming and throwing up that I got when eating too fast or not chewing enough. I still can't do really sweet foods in any quantity like a very sweet ice cream shake without getting a real blah feeling--this is good and it keeps me away from the real rich foods except for a small bite here or there which is fine.

The bottom line for now in the transition phase is to go really slow and chew allot--it gets annoying, but it prevents issues. I don't have to be so cautious now as I was at first--so look forward to things feeling more normal in just a few months. One wierd thing that happens if I get a bit too full is that I get some sinus congestion and sneeze--like the body is turning on the mucus production. Early on that could progress to full foaming or throwing up, but now I can tell better when to stop it seems and at most I get mild congestion and it passes quickly.

thanks guys... I walked around a bit and folded some laundry. the bad feeling did pass after an hour or two, but even going to bed, I was just not feeling super comfortable. I will wait on mashed potatoes a few days to try again, and I will make them milkier and smoother. This morning I'll stick to a shake for Breakfast. Feeling good today and hungry... AND I HIT 20 LBS DOWN ON THE SCALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(so much for me staying off the scale a while.... lol....)

good idea. I bought a big bag of potatoes to make a broccoli/potato Soup I have a great recipe for. Got me through after my lapband surgery. I think it would be good for now too. I will try mashed potatoes in a few days.. with the real thing. Not the box. I have to say the potato buds were surprisingly good. I used to turn my nose up to boxed mashed! lol... in a pinch.. not bad.

I tried potatoe Soup and it affected me the same way. I tried it again a couple of weeks later and it still hurt. I decided that potatoe's don't offer that much value anyway. Though they never bothered me before?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
