Hi newbie here, I have searched and read so much on gastric sleeve! I have spoken to Michael from Cosmetic bliss and he is sending me info.

Anyone on here who would like to give me any advice it would be gratefully appreciated.

Im aged 52, and the skin after weight loss really worries me Any advice please.

I take omeprozole, had camera 12/18mths ago, but they found nothing,it doesnt really help my indigestion !

So only take it as last resort, usually use gaviscon.

Im frightened if they go and find hernia or ulsers while having sleeve, as i am not a where of anything, any help with this please.

Im sorry for all the questions and appologise if i sound stupid in advance.:):scared0::blushing:

hugs to all.

If they find ulcers, there's a good chance they'll probably be on the part of the stomach they're removing.

If they find a hiatal hernia, like the do with SOOO many of us (myself included), it's a quick 10-minute fix while they're in there. It totally, completely, put an end to my years-long battle with heartburn and reflux.

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired during my sleeve surgery that I was not aware of before hand. Not a problem.

I'm almost 50 yrs old myself, and now that I've lost all my weight I definately do see a difference with my skin sagging much more. My neck is the worst area, but it's not horrible. I also notice it in the crook of my elbows and my upper arms on the underside near my arm pits. I'm sure if I tried to gain more muscle in my arms it might fill out a bit.

My cheeks are getting a little saggy also and I'm starting to look like those "before" pictures of the people that get fillers injected into their faces. Unfortunately this comes with the territory with weight loss at our age. I may do something about it in the next few years if I get the money to do so. But I'll take this problem over being overweight any day!

the thing i just realized is that the surgery is not in england. i'm actually wanting to do it some place here. not that i have anything against other countries, but i'd like to be closer to home. it makes it frustrating that i don't know the area yet.

Sweetie, thanks for the compliment! I really appreciate it. If I hold my head JUST RIGHT the turkey neck is kept at bay - ha!

I don't know the conversion from pounds to stone, but I started out at 220/lbs before I had the lapband. I lost some with it, but was able to get to my goal weight of 140/lbs with the sleeve. I vary between 137 - 140/lbs right now. So I'm down 80+ lbs from my highest weight.

I see there'e one in Norwich and one in Cambridge, the ggo thing is that the surgeons are the same surgeons that do surgery on the NHS, so you can fully check the consultants and ask about their experience etc

Hi I went to Dr Cierny in Czech Republic via Cosmetic Bliss for a VSG is May 2009. I can thoroughly recommend them, I have been extremely happy with the treatment and the outcome, and the price is very reasonable. I was not worried about going to the Czech Republic because we had a few Czech au pairs when the kids were little and they were all intelligent and kind.

I too am 52 and my skin has not been too bad, although I have lost over 8 stone! I think my twin pregnancy did more damage than the obesity to be honest. I take marine collagen tablets each evening to help my skin repair and I also used bio oil on my tummy for the scars which are now invisible.

Dr Cierny will explain anything you want to know when you are there, and Michael and Deborah can help beforehand. They are very knowledgeable, Michael has had a VSG himself.

Hope this helps.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
