5th day post op cleared by Dr.

Recommended Posts

Went for check up today and Dr. said I was clear to do whatever I felt like no restrictions even go back to work. I am an RN so I have a 50lb weight requirement and he said go back whenever I thought I was ready he would sign the paper. Nice. I think I will stay off for the next 4 weeks just to use up some of my sick bank time!!!!! I started out at 265lbs on surgery day (I'm only 5'4") down to 254 today!!!

I got the same thing from my doc but I am going to continue to take it slow. If I try something and it hurts my belly, I am going to stop. Bad thing is, hubby was there for this release and now thinks all the housework including scrubbing floors is back on the agenda. NOT! If it is on the floor at this point, it will live there until I can get to it without hollerin' ow!

Fifth day? That's surprisingly quick.

wow! good for you! I intend on taking my full 4 weeks to rest and gradually get myself back to normal! my appt is tomorrow though, so I'm anxious! Did you have JP drain? I still have that thing, so no way can I do "normal" with it! Can't wait to get it out tomorrow!

Surgery was on Wednessday and they took the JP drain out on Friday. I did not have any staples just derma bond. 2 incisions one on left and belly button.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
