HELP I forget what the 3-day pre-op diet is!

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for surgery on Monday, Sept. 20th. so have to start my 3-day liquid diet tomorrow and I can't remember what I am allowed to have!!! I'm sure I have it somewhere but can't find it. I know it is Clear liquids but can't remember if I am allowed Jello, tea etc.

My surgeon is Dr. Pompa and I am with Weight Loss Forever, Saskatoon so if any of you fellow WLF people that are familiar with their plan can help me out I would really appreciate it. I really need to spend some time tomorrow getting everything together!! I'm usually so organized....thanks again. :)

Email your coordinator if that who is initially gave it to you. I used Dr. Pompa also but I worked directly with their nutritionist Daniella, the one she gave me was for like 2 weeks. I talked her into letting me do a modified one that only covered around 6 days pre-op then I begged her to let me have some food the night before surgery so I could sleep with a full belly. She only let me have some Soup or salad. I had a big bowl of pintos and cheese. I fessed up and she said at least i went for Protein. LOL. I would say to ask Calgarygirl but she is already in TJ waiting for her surgery tomorrow. Not sure if she will see this before then.

I am guessing it is just Clear Liquids if it is only for 3 days. That would be chicken broth, Water, Jello, Protein drinks, crystal light and tea.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
