New and still hoping

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new here. I have decided this would be the best choice for me and I am here to learn as much as I can. My husband is trying to have the same surgery. We are in just the beginning stages. We feel our insurance will cover this for us and we attended a seminar with the surgical team that we feel we will go with. I have read through so many posts in the forum and I have learned so much already. Robin

Welcome Robin and hubby. So glad you found us.:) This forum is a great place for research, support and sometimes just needing a place to vent.

I'm just about 4 weeks post op. and I can tell you this is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I feel blessed, truly blessed to have my sleeve.

I hope you and your husband are able to get approved and have your surgery soon. I believe you will not regret it.

Please keep us posted as your journey progresses. Best of luck.

Deb

Thanks....we did hear from our insurance broker and she said WLS is a covered benefit. Now we just need to find out if Vertical Sleeve is covered and what requirements are needed. Keeping fingers crossed.....Robin

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
