Hi

I new to this sight, but not to weight loss surgery.

I had a lapband which worked great until it didn't.

I lost all my weight and more but had to have the band removed due to a slip.

I gained the majority of my weight back. There was a reason I had the band right?

I'm booked for a sleeve in Nov in Mexico as my last chance at being healthy and painfree.

Looking forward to reading your posts and gaining knowledge.

Just wanted to say welcome.

I'm so sorry you've had problems with your Band. We have a lot of band to sleeve revisions on here. I'm sure they will chime in with their stories soon. Until then ... welcome & happy reading.

Welcome to the site. I am also a lapband to VSG revision, and let me tell you, it was the best move of my life. I wish I had know about it prior to the band, and I definitely would have done it first!

Hi Mumwithnobum, what an absolute bummer to have lost all that and then had it go back on. The sleeve will not let you down like that, but it's obviously hard that you have to go through major weight loss twice in a few years. Welcome by the way.

Agree with others... In France, the gastric band is not often done any more (except on young people), and has fallen out of favour as the surgery of choice, it seems.

You will get on well with the sleeve - and no worried about anything slipping!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
