What is the most powerful, gut-exploding laxative I can buy OTC?

Recommended Posts

The most powerful butt-explosive laxative on earth would be...drumroll please...

sugar free Gummy Bears. I don't think they would be WLS surgeon approved. :D

Here's a review from an Amazon customer (oh and they're only available in 5lb bags... :o )

Good times. :D

I wish there was a good OTC option! I had to resort to mag citrate twice after surgery, but it’s fizzy so you have to let it go flat...and it’s super nasty!!
Now I take Linzess daily, plus a stool softener three times a day and drink Smooth Move tea every night, and I still only go about every 2 weeks. It’s awful!!

I drink 16 oz of Water with 1 tablespoon of Metamucil every night and every morning I have a regular visit to the toilet after going 3 weeks with almost nothing. The first time I did I lost 3 pounds I was so excited!

Just now, Lillymunster said:

They had me drink 2 bottles of magnesium citrate the day before surgery. That stuff kept working for days.

2 bottles. Impressive! :D Colon Blow 2000. :) But I swear, they wouldn't let me do a bowel prep before surgery. The bastages...I had concretions. CONCRETIONS. It was like giving birth to Rosemary's baby! With TEETH! LOL. It was truly gruesome.

So I would have much rather dealt with the mag citrate before hand. Did you have any issues with Constipation afterward?

It wasn’t fun. That lasted for a few days after surgery. No issues since then. Things aren’t “normal” but they are moving. I think all the Water and walking is what is keeping me from getting constipated.

anybody remember castor oil? Dumb doctor wanted me to drink Orange juice and castor oil to put myself into labor. Remember telling someone I think I'm greasing the Wrong Hole here! FYI , 50 years ago and Baby ##1 still didn't come for 3 days and she never has showed up on time for anything else. That was RD short for Rotten DAUGHTER, and I have a story about her 365 days a year, always one if those in every family, I gave birth to MINE.😞👸😏

Y’all... the struggle is real. Almost 4 months post op and I pray to have the runs nearly every day. I take colase every morning... and drink Smooth Move tea at night... and then drink milk of magnesia if things getting really out of hand.

This morning I was so out of sorts that I got nauseas and vomited while clearing the pipes. My failure to produce is really starting to get worry me and I need to find some routine to keep me regular. 😩😩

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
