I had been on juice Plus a few years ago and then basically got lazy and stopped taking it. I was thinking of taking it for these last two months before my surgery. Does anyone know how long AFTER surgery before you could swallow a big capsule (and they are pretty big) again? They also have chewables but they are gummies and I didn't think that sounded like a good idea.

I have those big fish oil capsules and I was told I would never be able to take them. I've seen other people post that they starting taking pills immediately post-op with no problem. I would ask my doctor.

I'm 8 days post op. My Dx told me not to take fish oil also. Most of my pills, if they are big, I split in half. I just noticed today that Viactiv has 3 grams of sugar so on Thurs. when I'm to start my Calcium, I'll take the regular chewable calcium. I'm not able to take my CQ10, per the Dx. When I get off my colestral pill, I won't need it anyway. I'm down 12.6# since my 5 day prep to today.

I take the chewable juice Plus and while I haven't had my surgery yet my doctor said I would be able to take them after surgery. I have never been able to swallow anything bigger than tylenol so chewable are the only option for me. I am also a distributor for JuicePlus and I have a couple clients who have had WLS and one takes the chewables and one the capsules and neither have had any problems.

I take the big fish oil caplets whole. I just make sure to take them one at time with about an hour in between as when I put it in Water to see what happens the gelitan skin became quite large.

My surgeon has me on bariatric-specific Vitamins. I think I feel better about that. The ones for the first month or so are chewable, as are the calcium chews he gave me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
