I was pleased to find this page, I'm glad you're here!

I'm reminded just from joining this site what an ongoing process "coming out" can be. Being asked, "Are you married" when chatting on here always results in the inevitable thoughts about whether this is the time/place to add, "to a woman" to the "Yes, I am married" answer. Oh well, so far so good, no one has run screaming from the chat room!

I just had surgery about 2 weeks ago and so far so good. The decision put a little stress on my relationship just because it was scary and stressful but thankfully post-op wifey is much more on board.

I hope to meet some folks on here, it's always nice to find other GLBT folks out in cyberspace.

Hey Souldancer...sistah here. Congrats on your recent surgery! I had my sleeve done in Feb 2010. Feeling pretty darn good too....I'm down over 80 lbs, and am only 17 lbs from my goal weight. I'm at the stage where I'm physically healed, but occasionally I get a little weirded out by my new body. My jiggly bits have become wrinkley bits, and I couldn't be more delighted!

Hello Souldancer.... Congrats on having your op- I had surgery end of May 2010 and apart from a few probs with Acid etc have not looked back! Glad your partner is now on board its always difficult isnt it for them I guess she may be worried you will change too much or its the fear of you going through the surgery itself. Enjoy this new journey..its the start of a new chapter in both your lives!!! Osk

Well people that are close to us tend to worry... My partner was very supportive about the op but then I broke up with her. I felt I needed to go into this alone (there were other issues as well obviously).

I hope you're doing good and I hope your relationship is only strengthened by the hardships you might come across. Losing weight doesn't only change you, it also changes the people around you.

Hello Ladies,

Just came across this thread here recently, but have been on the site for about 2 years. I'm two years out the 30th of this month and down approx 140lbs. I wish you nothing but the best in your upcoming and continuing journeys.

Rhonda

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
