Is what I'm feeling restriction?

Recommended Posts

I got my 3rd fill last week. I'm up to 7cc in the 11cc Inamed. In the mornings I have trouble even drinking. It goes down, but it gurgles. So I drink a Protein shake for Breakfast (around 9am). Sometimes I get hungry by 11 again, sometimes not. Sometimes I can eat anything, sometimes not. I have been having problems with meat and bread getting stuck in my chest. I've PB'd once. Usually it goes down on its own.

My question is this: Is this was restriction is? What causes the food to get stuck when you know your stomach can't possibly full? I don't usually feel very full, but then again I don't get really hungry like I used to either. I'm so confused. Is this what its all about?

Hello there

You are feeling restriction.

The reason why the food sticks is because the band is doing its job & is stopping the food from going through.

sometimes you will only be able to eat 4 or 5 fork fulls & you will be full - your pouch is very small & can only hold a fraction of what it could pre band.

This is a whole new learning curve for us.. we have to know that everything is different than before. (thankfully lol).

Hope this helpd a wee bit

I have an 11 cc band as well and just to show how different we all are i have 2.3 cc(had 1 cc but 2cc's more and the barium was totally stuck) and feel as restricted as you (for now).

I just got this 1.3 fill last week.

I cannot eat bread at all now.Food ok but plain Water first thing in the am

gets stuck?I believe there is a thread about just water and why it might feel this way.

I would say you have awesome restriction and as long as you can eat a little solids without pain then... away you go!!;)

I guess we have to re-learn to eat with every fill!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
