Everyone felt scared and excited at the same time, it's nuts. LOL you'll do fine, just remember to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Find a liquid that you can tolerate as soon as possible and drink as much of it as you can to stay hydrated. For me it was warm Decaf tea. You'll feel better as your stomach becomes used to having something in it. Also, get up and walk while in the hospital everytime you go to the restroom. It moves the gas through you faster. Good luck!

You'll do great, this past Friday was was two week 'suriversary'. I feel wonderful. I've had very little discomfort. Turning over in bed was the worst, I had to be careful. If you are leaving your hometown, take a heating pad, it is wonderful. Don't bother taking a nightgown or slippers, they will have you in a hospital gown and those little hospital slippers your entire stay! Be prepared for a change in tastes after surgery. I'm from Texas and love everything COLD, extra ice. After surgery, the first week anyway, I like everything room temp., even milk. Very strange!

I'd recommend to get off caffeine now if you can - to make it a bit easier than going thru it all at the same time.

Also get any cleaning you need done at home before the surgery to take any pressure off your recovery. I also made some broths up and froze them for when I came home.

Its be done before you know it.....good luck

Kathy

It's normal to feel scared, but remember that it's also perfectly normal to feel extreme regret immediately after the surgery...don't let it depress you since you'll feel so much better in a few days and you won't regret it at all especially when the pounds start melting off you. I wish I heard that before surgery. After 5 mos, I am so thankful I did it!

I'm with ya, LaToya! Thursday is my day, too! I'm just prepared for anything and everything, not being able to stuff myself with cruddy food will be wonderful! I almost hope that my tastes will change so I won't be craving Taco Bell and Taco Bueno anymore! We'll see though...I can't wait!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
