Hey everybody,

Any personal experience with Prolab whey Protein, chocolate flavored? I can get stuff sent to me through drugstore.com or Amazon but the PX carries a lot of Protein stuff, soldiers love their muscle-building technology. =)

So the stuff we have at the PX are enormous tubs of this Prolab chocolate powder. The nutrition guide said something like 28 g protein per serving (wow!), 4 carbs, and I think the overall cal was like 160.

So I wanted to know if anybody has tried this stuff, did you like it, was it good, gross, etc. I was going to try it now but remembered all the cautions from people that flavors you may like pre-op you may find disgusting post-op. Any help would be great, thank you!!:lol0:

Um, hello?? Nobody has any information on this product? Please comment, somebody - anybody! I'm pre-op and anxious and trying to get my ducks in a row, this stuff is all that is avaiable at hand without ordering online and waiting 2 weeks.

Do you have a store where you can sample it? Some GNC stores have samples available so you can try the products before purchasing a large supply. Hope that helps, I have not tried this one so I cannot offer any advice on it.

I've never heard of it. I have been online talking about WLS for over 4 years and nobody has ever mentioned this product.

I think Papillion gave you good advice. Try to go to a nutrition store that will let you sample products. or you can go to the food section of this site and look under Protein powders for a thread I started called "places to get samples" I would buy some samples of things to try.

I definitely intend to try samples while I'm in the States to determine which ones are best for me. Then I will mail the ones I like forward to myself. But here in Iraqat the Army PX's this is the Protein they have available and it would be nice if I could use that since it is handily available. I would just buy it now but the tubs are enormous.

I would not advise buying big tubs of anything before surgery. There have been many people who have done that and then hated the product after surgery. A lot of people have said that their taste changed and things they liked before surgery, they hated after surgery.

If it's not expensive and you don't mind taking a gamble, then go ahead and buy it. It would seem like maybe you could find someone there who has some that you could try?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
