Okay, it has gone from sore to Damn it hurts and I went to bed last night in tears. My other incision has started burning when I move some ways and the other is almost constant pain unless I am laying on my right side. I have to walk hunched over and holding my belly. I am sure I pulled the scar tissue away. That just makes sense for the pain I am having but it really hurts. I need to call the doctor again Monday morning. I barely made it through my open house. Thank goodness I had one of the kids to help pull signs. I did have to pull one myself and it was the large one..but I didn't have a choice. I can't even walk in the morning.

Good news is that my stall is over and the scale has moved down 3 pounds.

I'm curious if anyone else has had this experience. This started for me about five days ago. Surgery was on the 11th. When I sit for any length of time, it bothers me up under my ribs, just a little uncomfortable, like I need to 'shift' positions. The only way to compare the way it feels is it reminds me of how it felt when I was pregnant and the baby would be 'up under my ribs'. Make sense? Has anybody else had this feeling? Any idea WHAT it is?? It is so weird.

Gas? Is it a pressure? I remember that baby under the rib feeling. It sucked.

It isn't gas, just an uncomfortable feeling, I shift and it's fine for a little while. It's weird. My husband thinks it is just everything healing. I'll ask today. I'm sure it is nothing. It isn't pain and it is mostly when I'm riding in the car. I really noticed it when we were coming back from Galveston to Dallas, but even one day when we went to Houston, it was uncomfortable, not painful, just shifting positions every so often. I am hoping it doesn't last long. I am on a plane tomorrow! Ugh. How are you feeling this morning?

I don't hurt as much as yesterday or the day before but that is because it is morning and I just got up. Showering was...hard. I am about to call Sandy now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
