Hi my name is Marsha Duka and I am 48 year old and stand 5 11. I have three grown children and two grand kids. I have decided to have a super sleeve done. I have been in health care over 25 years and I feel this is the best surgury for me. I was in the navy for 22 years and never had a weight problem. Once I retired and hurt my back I gained over 100 lbs. The supper sleeve is a new procedure they basicly fold the stomach and suture it. The part I like no cutting. I live in San Diego so am have Dr Joel Rodriguz in Tijiuna Mexico. I have done my research all the doctors in mexico. I will have it done in July or Aug 2010. Will keep you all posted.:lol0:

I had the sleeve, but would be interested in hearing your success with the "super sleeve".

A few quesitons I have ... Have you discussed grehlin with your surgeon. The absence (or lowered amount) has been truly wonderful with my sleeve. Since your entire stomach is still there, will you still produce it? Can food get trapped in the folds and cause infection?

Best of luck with your surgery. Keep us posted on your journey.

Wonderful NavyMom! I'm starting my journey too...will be having the VSG. What can you tell us about the super sleeve other than there is no cutting? Is it considered to be reversible?

What is a super sleeve? Hi Kathy!!! Are you still 'loving' your sleeve as much as I am? No hunger, what-so-ever! It is truly amazing! I am eating only about an eighth of a cup of Soup twice a day, if I eat more, I feel uncomfortable. I concoctocted (sp?) a baked potato, brocclli, cheese soup that is wonderful. I thin it with skim milk and add a little Greek yogurt. I put the brocclli in the blender with some skim milk and a little Cambells cream of potato soup and blend. Then add it to a smashed baked potato and thin it all with more skim milk, heat it up and add cheese and a little yogurt. It's devine! I hope you are doing well. My two week appointment is Monday.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
