Hey all, I am new here. I am about a week post-op. I had my sleeve done one 6/7/10. I am not hungry at all and have issues even remembering to drink Water. Is it normal to have the "ball" in your chest after surgery. It is really bother-som. I am still on thin liquids and Monday I will start the thick liquids.

I hope to get to know you guys, I have been lurking and finally came out of the shadows. There is a wealth of information available and I thank you guys for it!

=):biggrin0:

Hi there and welcome to the losers bench

As far as I know its normal for the ball in your chest - I think its acid (but theres much more exp sleevers out there that'll post the answer....) Are you on an acid reducer?

Good luck with your recovery

Thanks for the welcome. My doctor prescribed Zyntac and I can feel the acid buildup if I dont take it for a long period of time. It is slowly getting better.

I had my sleeve done on June 7th also. The past couple of nights, I believe I had the same "ball" in chest symptom. It comes and goes in waves and is worse in the middle of the night. I too thought it was gas or acid, but I'm having that pain now and I took my Zegerid 2 hours ago. It feels like a big bubble that is expanding in the chest that comes and goes frequently. Any ideas?

I had my post-op today and spoke with my doctor about it. He said it is normal to have that feeling as you progress it will diminish. He said it is the point of movement of fluids between your esophagus and your new smaller pouch.

In the past couple of days my "ball" has actually moved down more into my stomach area and it is not as bothersome. It gets better!

Hey 'Sleeve Sister' - how are you? How are you feeling/doing? I am good, basically no pain at all since surgery. Staples are out, the last one that he was going to take out next week, FELL OUT two days ago! It really feels much better! :biggrin0: I am not hungry at all. I'm doing pretty good with liquids, but am doing horribly with getting Protein in. I get to full to fast. I am making my own 'liquid yogurt' which is allowed for me now. I'm using Greek yogurt, adding weigh watchers for some flavor, and skim milk to make it thin. He said it must go through a straw. I do good to get in 20 grams of Protein a day, I can do this because it tastes good, if it was yucky, there is NO WAY!! How do you do it, or are you able to??!! I've been thinking of you!

Hiya!

I'm doing well thanks.... had dissolving stitches so had nothing taken out on my post op appt. Just all checked out. I'd not describe what I had as actual pain - but I have quite a high pain threshold..... but I've been without discomfort for about a week now.

I'm changing onto full liquids from today for 10 days, and am welcoming the change - boredom was starting to set in on just clears.

like you anything I have must be thin enough to drink.... so I made some roasted butternut squash Soup yesterday which is lush, and have melted some low fat cream cheese in it for a bit of added protein (not much tho!) but it is lovely!!

I had a skimmed yoghurt for Breakfast, or rather one third of it, just couldn't get the rest down!!

Well done on your weight loss.... doing really well. We went out last night and I had so many compliments - as I've now lost 28lbs since November as was doing WW before making my decision on being sleeved.

Take care and keep in touch

Kathy

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
