Getting sleeved on the 29th

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

My name is Kevin. I'm due to be sleeved on the 29th of June in Troy Michigan at Beaumont Hospital.

I'm anxious but due to my wife going through it in febuary I know what to expect mostly from a recovery angle.

I guess my real fear is because of the added muscle ontop my stomach that the punctures will take longer to heal or will hurt more than my wife's appeared too.

Does anyone have any idea if that is true?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Kev

Hi Kevin,

No advice, but I'm scheduled for June 29th, too. I think to be scared is normal (to not be scared would be crazy). This site has provided me with a lot of good information and reassurance. Hang in there. We'll send eachother good long-distance vibes that day! :001_cool:

No idea about the muscle query - but there are several couple posting on here so maybe they can answer it. But congrats on your date!

Good luck

Kathy

I don't know about the stomach thing, sorry. Gratz on getting a date. You are so lucky to have had someone go ahead of you on this. She will really be able to help you through it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
