Running on the Beach with Grandchildren

Recommended Posts

One of the reasons I got the sleeve was that I was having a hard time getting on the floor to play with my two beautiful grandgirls (3 and 5 years old). I wanted to be able to go to the beach and make sandcastles with them.

Yesterday, we went to the beach and I had SO MUCH ENERGY!!! I played racing games with them, and played in the surf, and got down in the sand and worked on a sandcastle. My body is so much lighter and easier to move!

My grandgirls loved it and thought Grandma was a lot of FUN!

This was a very meanful goal for me. It also signified joining in the activity and fun instead of watching life go by. I had gotten to the point that I thought I was just too old to do those things (I'm 56). Later, we drove by Saddle Mountain and I remembered that I thought my knees were shot and I would never be able to climb it again. But then I realized that it was not my age but my weight that was keeping me from doing it. My knees have improved since losing weight. So that means my next goal should be climbing Saddle Mountain again!!!!!!

I want to get fit again! I've started aerobic exercise with a girlfriend and I'm going to look for other opportunities to work and move my body. I want to get strong again like I was when I was young. I'll never be 20, but it would be great to join life again!

Sounds you had a great day - congratulations!!! And it'll only get better - what a wonderful gift you have given not only yourself but your family as well.

Keep up the good work

Kathy

This is what it's ALL about!!! The number on the scale is really not the point... it's what you want out of your life. Hitting this goal is incredibly meaningful - you are achieving exactly what you wanted. I am so happy for you!!!

Thanks, Christie. I saw your walk marathon pictures so I know you understand what I mean about joining the parade instead of just watching from the sidelines!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
