I was wondering how you all felt at various stages of your recovery.

At one week....one month etc..... what were you able to do physically....?

Hiya

I just had my 32 sleeve Friday afternoon, & can honestly say it was a non event as far as pain or problems i was up the same evening & walking & sipping Water well into the night.

I have not had to take any painkillers & swallowing has not been a problem so far.

I did have a few burps of gas but that appears to have gone, they let me out of hospital today at lunchtime which felt good to get home.

The main thing is i dont feel hungry at all so will have to be carefull to get somegoodness in.

anyhow you are not far away with your surgery so very best of luck I hope everything goes nice & smooth for you.

best wishes

Don..

Thanks Don. We have an evening out planned (well sort of but I can get out of it) a week after my surgery... so not sure if I'll be able to sit for say 3 hours to enjoy it....

I've also managed to put off having any house guests (the draw of living in Spain with the warm weather and a pool usually brings them over in the summer!!) until 3 weeks out, and then its my best friend who knows about the surgery.

I'm glad you're recovering well - enjoy being at home... I know I hate being in hospital so will look forward to returning home next weekend after the event!

Good luck with your recovery

Kathy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
