Keeping the Protein Drinks COLD

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone - I'm trying to drink my Protein Drinks (I always blend lots of ice cubes in mine with sugar free Syrup and frozen strawberries or blueberries) but sometimes I can't drink all of it right away. If I put it in a glass and put it in the refrigerator I don't like the consistency - I like the little ice cube pieces to remain. So last couple of days I make it and then put it in a steel thermos and I swear it will stay COLD all day long - I just keep sipping it and when it's gone I make another. I find I'm drinking more Protein this way.

That's an awesome idea. I didn't even think of that. I bought one of these things just to keep my drinks cold. I found they came in handy when I had to to be on the go, and hated having a watered down drink because the ice melts.

I mix up my Protein Shake in the morning and put it in the freezer while I shower and get ready for work- about an hour. The shake is good and cold with small ice crystals. I have an hour drive into work so my shake stays cold the whole time!

okay i know this sounds ridiculous, but i have a GIANT THERMOS from ... ahem.. 7-11! It's for keeping slurpees cold but it works for my smoothies and they last like 9 hours, it holds a coffe pot full. I swear. Great for a fridge pitcher of sorts, nothing gets runny in there ever.

I swear by my little thermos. Got it at target and it has a little sipper spout and a snap down lid that works great when I need to reshake it to mix things up. I take it everywhere with me. My kids (teenagers) refer to it as mom's "ba-ba"

Silver Lining - I'm getting sleeved soon and I guess I'm lucky that I will be in my Protein Shake phase during the summer, icy frozen shakes are welcome during hot summer months!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
