Question about Weight Gain before first fill

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was just wondering how many of you gained weight before your first fill. I was banded in mid Apr and lost consistently until I started solids (and I was still very careful in what I ate AND have been exercising). I've noticed that I've gained 3-4 lbs in the last week!!!!! WTF!!!! I go for my first fill next week. I've heard this can happen but I'm just curious as to how many folks it has happened to. I'm trying not to beat myself up or get discourgaged by it but it is difficult!!

Me, Me!!!

I have gained and lost the same 5 lbs. for weeks now. I weighed 217.5 to start, lost to 212 before surgery, then down to 200.5....back up to 206......down to 203......you get the picture. I have yet to go below 200 and it's killing me. I had my 1st fill last week, but so far it hasn't done much good. I don't go back for 2nd fill until July.....ugh!

I did not get a fill for a full 8 weeks. During that time I managed to maintain my loss but did not lose any additional weight. So far, the fill I got last Thursday has not resulted in any restriction.

before my first fill, I was at the same weight for a week. Now that I have my first fill, I went up 6 lbs. I don't know what I can be doing wrong, I still drink my shakes and i walk every other day for about an hour.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
