I think I am actually going crazy

Recommended Posts

Okay... I think I am actually going nuts waiting for my insurance to approve my surgery. I'm trying to set up my leave time for work and get everything ready for my pre op diet and the waiting is absolutely killing me and driving me insane.

Take some time for yourself, some deep breaths, and focus on something positive! The best thing is if you can find a project of some kind to focus on for a while, that will help the time go by. Good luck!

Lill,

boy do I get that! I started the process last September for the Lap-band thinking that was what I wanted. I switched to the VSG in January after finding out that the Lap-band would not be the best for me due to reflux. So all my paperwork then went over to a different Dr's office. Well I thought it did anyway, seems I had to make several calls to get them to release and fax my records over to the new coordinator. I thought I was all set but found out I needed more information, so I got what was needed. Then after calling the insurance several times I finally hear back that they suspended my request for 30 days as my Psych Eval was dated 2006!! What the heck?....I guess I just assumed that the coordinator's job was to make sure that everything was in order before it was sent in. Like checking dates....? Soooo now I have to go back to my Psych Dr and have a official evaluation next week. She had sent in my original evaluation from when I first went to see her back in 2006. So by the time that gets written up, faxed to the coordinator, the Dr signs it off and gets faxed back to my case manager at my insurance I should be close to the 30 day mark. The funny thing is, I only have a couple of things to meet the criteria for a OK from the insurance, the Psych Eval being one of those, but I have had to do so much more for the surgeons office. I understand that, but the whole process has been so frustratingly slow. I work for a Blue Shield, (not who I am going through) so I know how things SHOULD flow and this has been a reason for my frustration. It seems everytime something more needs to be done its another two weeks. I also had time off work scheduled way ahead of time for the end of this month thinking that would give me plenty of time, but had to cancel it. Now I will have to take off time as "unscheduled" which isn't terrible but I have a perfect attendence record for the past 17 years. So blaa...blaa...bla. Sorry to run off at the mouth over this. Not too many people understand where I am coming from on this and I hope I have not offended anyone. Hopefully next week I can post that I have a date!!

Hmmmm..... then I will be worried over the actual surgery itself! Yes I feel I am going crazy also! :svengo:

Thanks Sunny. I completely understand the feeling. I think everyone at the insurance co and the doctor's office know my phone number and see it on the caller ID and draw straws before they answer it. My insurance company has all my paperwork but "they are really busy" this week. Why is that my problem? I told them " it's all there, just approve it. It will take you all of 5 minutes". But they didn't take my suggestion.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
