Frustrated and Date-Less

Recommended Posts

Hi all;

I had my band out last wednesday. Before the band removal, my doc said

that in 1-2 months after the band removal that we could do the sleeve

revision. I went back in for a post-op check up today, and now he is talking 2 months! He didnt give any emperical evidence about why we need to wait

2 months, he just said that this was just a post-op visit, and that we needed

to start the bariatric surgery back from the beginning about getting me qualified, etc.

I brought out the big guns and told him my company was talking about

layoffs(what else is new, right?, but they really ar), the time frame is may-june, and that since I know I have coverage with my current insurance,

I wanted to make sure it was done before that happened.

He didnt appear particularly moved with my argument.

I am BUMMED. I was hoping to come away with a date today since we both went in knowing I was getting the revision and not just the band removed.

Sigh....

Another trip back to him on Monday with the packet for the bariatric work up.

I was hoping to finish the summer with most of my weight gone, not sure where it stands now.

blech

Lisa

Fight it ! Become a pain in the ass. They have no right to do this to you. I would go above him and make a complaint. This is your life, and you should have this taken care of quickly regardless of layoffs. You had a deal. A verbal contract if you will. Go for it.

Any other surgeons available who are on your insurance list????

Sounds like someone needs to get with the program and become part of the real world.

Don't give up! Suppose you could tell him that if you miss the coverage due to layoffs and have to pay for it yourself, that you will have no other choice but to go to Mexico or Costa Rica for surgery ..... might at least show him that you are serious.

All of the bariatrics surgeons in Colorado have less than 10 vsg surgeries under their

belt according to obesityhelp. This doc is the only one in his practice.

Soo...I *will* become a pain in the arse..I *will* stand up for my rights!!

lol

Thanks for understanding you guys!

Ohhh Lisa, I'd be absolutely livid. I would fight as well, and be your biggest advocate. Make your case, and tell him that by having the band out and waiting that much time without a solid reason as to why, is not going to work for you.

Fingers are crossed that you get a date SOON.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
