Recommended Posts

Ok, here I go again. I am about to buy my tickets to Mexico for the second time. Nothing can stop me now! LOL. I am going to Dr. Aceves on Wed. April 28th, flying into San Diego and having surgery on April 29th. Just looking for others who are going to be at the airport with me. Thanks!

Hi Dalasgirl. I will be there from the 26th-30th. My surgery is the 27th. So you will have surgery and I will be leaving the next day. Is anyone accompanying you? And how is your high Protein low carb diet doing? Or have you started yet?

Wendy

Wendylou, I am starting the pre op diet tomorrow. I actually did it a few weeks ago and I had cancelled my trip because of the Earthquake. I lost 8 lbs the first time. I think I've gained back 4 lbs of it. So, I start tomorrow. I do a lot of deli meat with cheese melted on it, Protein shakes (gotta be careful cause if prepared with milk...that's a lot of carbs), shrimp or fish (NOT fried), and eggs. Yogurts seem to have a lot of carbs so I only eat those if I am craving something sweet. I had cravings all 7 days but they did lesson as the week went on.

I am going ALONE. I don't mind being alone, but I am nervous about the long plane ride home.

Many congrats on getting your date. I agree with Cajun on the Greek yogurt. It's still a major staple in my daily diet.

You're gonna do great ! ! !

Hey lovely ladies! Actually, I have tried the greek yogurt and to my surprise, I liked it! BUT...I only tried the one with HONEY!?!?! LOL! It had at least twice the carbs as the plain, but still less than the yoplait FF Light. I just dont know if I can eat plain yogurt? I need to search the recipe section.

I'm not going to Mexico but I am having surgery on 4/29/2010 @ Houston...tommorrow is my pre-op with surgeon. I find myself wondering if the pain is as bad as a c-section? I can do this! nerves set in, I guess.

I haven't had a c-section but did have a Tummy Tuck. Somewhat similar I think? I was opened from hip to hip, muscles cut and stretched, skin pulled snug.

To me, the tummy tuck was much much worse than the lap sleeve surgery, altho the tt was day surgery and I was at home within an hour of the surgery. After the sleeve, I had chest pain from being inflated during surgery and some nausea. Within 24 hours, both were mostly gone.

I flew home three days after surgery and never took another pain pill. I had no problems walking thru the airport or during the flight. I did splurge for the flight home and booked a first class, non stop 3 hour flight. The extra large comfy seat was wonderful - however not being able to take advantage of the free drinks and food was lousy! LOL

My nerves were definitely on edge the day of surgery altho mainly I was mad at myself for not being able to lose the weight on my own.

If you got thru a c-section, I think this will be lots easier for you!

Good luck and a speedy recovery!

CWalker

Nope!! Having a c-section is a lot harder than the sleeve or the band! I have also had a Tummy Tuck and it was harder than those! You will be fine, the pain is so much less than the c-section.

Good luck to you!!!

I buy the Greek yogurt at Publix (I am in the South...Florida) and I get it at Wal Mart. It is in the Yogurt section with all the others in my stores. Look around the sour cream and cottage cheese areas...it's there. It's a little pricier than regular yogurts but not by too much. The plain is a great substitute for recipes that call for sour cream.

Thanks for all of the well wishes!

I added a couple of packets of Splenda or sugar free strawberry jelly for a sweet taste. I used various spices, and sauces for a more savory option especially when I started eating meat, added it to Beans and cheese for smoothness, I make veggie/chip/cracker dips out of it now.

I never was able to eat it plain. I never acquired that taste for it like others. Oh yeah, you can also add those sugar free syrups that they add to coffes/lattes by Davinci or Torani for a change.

Best wishes for a smooth surgery and recovery. Post when you are able to do so. We're all scooting over for you on the loser's bench.

I so wish our Wal-Mart carried the Oikos or Fage brand. All they carry is the Chobani which is great, but it only comes in 6 oz containers. I typically use 8-12oz when cooking certain recipes so it gets costly, but so worth it. I hate going to Publix just because it's not convenient for me to go there just for Greek yogurt.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
