Sorry its me again. I have since started throwing up, I was super light headed yesterday, but had all my Protein and yesterday was the first day I was able to get 44 oz of Fluid, the most I've had in two weeks. I am sipping now, but should I go to the doctor? I'm a little nervous!

Gosh! I'm sorry you are going through this. Maybe your first step should be to call Nina (I think she is the coordinator for Dr. Aceves). Maybe the doctor can provide some advice, calm your nerves, or direct you to care.

Let us know how you are doing.

I am sorry to hear you don't feel well : ( I had a couple of days feeling light headed but never vomited, so I am not much help. Once I added some yogurt, potato Soup and Protein it went away.

Checking with in with your nurse or dr just to be cautious is probably a good idea.

I checked with Gabby at Dr. A's office and she said that I am graduating food stages too quickly. I reread things and she's right. I thought I was being extra cautious, but nope, I wasn't supposed to have pureed tuna or scrambled eggs for another week. She told me to go back to full liquids and focus on getting liquids in. I can even drink high carb drinks like apple juice as long as I am focused on hydration at this point. I feel kind of dumb that I misread things, but I appreciate the encouragement to give them a call, now I know just what to do.

That's great Anna. There are a lot of liquids you can have at this point. Drink them slowly. You can have drinkable yogurt, Soy Slender is soy milk that's really good and low carb. It's not in the fridge section. If you like your Protein drinks, that's really great. There's also K20 Protein Water.

Just try to sip something a little at a time all day long.

I am so glad that you called & everything is ok. :redface1: Don't feel dumb - this is a learning process & it gets a bit overwhelming at first.

Now that you know what to do I am glad your feeling better. I didn't like Water after my surgery, (it felt heavy and like it was suspended in my esophagus! I managed to get all my Fluid in daily by drinking Vitamin water by diluting each bottle with 50% filtered water (then adding a packet of stevia) I was able to drink 3 20oz, bottles in a day. I sipped and sipped and carried them with me wherever I went. Sometimes I would also stick them in the freezer just to get them slushy. Hope that helps.

Thank you all! I like being able to feel so much support here. I've been blessed to have support in my outside life as well, but no one else can understand this journey unless they are on it too. Thank you!!!

Ok here comes your nurse, have you had a BM? I was really feeling dizzy and fainted at one time, feeling bad, nausea etc. . .went to the doctor and after talking for a bit, found out i hadn't had a poop in about 3 weeks. . . yup you heard right. . . but my normal routine is 1 - 2 x per week if that, so missing here and there didn't dawn on me, i was started on Miralax and metamucil wafers everyday, let me tell you! No more dizziness. . . this could be the problem. . .

Funny you should mention that! I had posted a question about that too. I had my first BM in over two weeks today. And though this is TMI my tummy was so relieved!

Good! Never TMI! Do you feel any better? Now keep on drinking your fluids and eat (if you can) metamucil wafers one package once a day, they come in apple cinnamon and cinnamon . . I love them, just like eating Cookies. . . they will help keep you regular. . .

I hope you feel better soon. I too didn't have a BM for a long time and OMG it was just scarey. Nice to know the plumbing works, eh?

I am so glad you are feeling better! You had such a hard time after surgery I would hate for you to have to go through that again. We all felt so bad for you at the hospital. Don't feel bad about accidently skipping a stage, I did it too with cottage cheese and the same thing happened. I thought I was the only one to make that mistake. I found that I can't tolerate cream Soups at all but thanks to reading this board I have found other things. Great job on the weight loss!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
