Recommended Posts

well well well...after wanting weight loss surgery for 8 years, going to several US seminars, coming up with various scenarios for how to pay for it, cancelling out on Mexico TWICE....I am FINALLY SLEEVED!! Hip Hip Hooray! Lol...AHAHAHAHHA! I am in Mexicali RIGHT NOW. Hospital is fantastic. Nurses are superb and Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos are great. I am so glad I came. I had to travel by myself, but I did it and I am alive to talk about it.

Awesome! Great to hear your doing good. Sip, walk, and take good care of yourself. Keep us updated on progress!

Thank you everyone!!!! Had my first challenge: Went into a Mexican store and was confronted with chips and pastries and candies of all kinds of wonderful fabulous flavors that they don't sell in the US. DANG! LOL! I had to leave them behind. :) I am doing good though. Sipping, walking and BREATHING!

CONGRATULATIONS Dalisgirl, Welcome to the loser's bench!

The first few weeks are the hardest, but once you are on mushies things start to improve and get easier. The weight will just fall off you! Take it easy, walk, sip, burp and be gentle with yourself.

I am scheduled for surgery May 14th. I am going to have Dr. Almanza. I have tried to lose weight before and have succeeded. Now throw in a thyroid problem....with the medicine I have gained and can't lose. I learned of VSG surgery when I met a girl on vacation and she shared her story with me. After talking longer with her I found out she actually lives only about 1 hour from me! I am doing this for me...right now we haven't told anyone except my son and daughter. Once I lose weight and more questions may arise, I may come clean....maybe I won't...LOL Best of luck to you.

I've decided not to tell anyone until after. I did tell one of my friends (as kind of a test) and she was open and asked me questions about the procedure. I then told her I was going to Mexico and she flipped! I told her about the dr and hospital and she was a little calmer but after that, I can only imagine how my fam will react. I will just have to deal with them being upset about not knowing before I had surgery. To me that's better than dealing with negativity and being stressed pre-op. I have enough to worry about!

Reading this post all the way through was rather like a book and I was cheering you on all the way. When I finally got to the post where you had the surgery, I was crying and clapping for you. I am so happy for you and bless you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
