Source for Viactiv WITHOUT calcium?

Recommended Posts

I really have enjoyed taking the chewable multi-vitamins, Viactive, but now I cannot seem to find them without Calcium. Their calcium is not calcium citrate - which is what I was told to take. I was told NOT to take calcium carbonate. Do any of you have a source for a chewable like the Viactiv that does not have the calcium? I take the calcium citrate separately with a Bariatric Advantage supplement. Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks for the scoop! I just ordered some from Amazon, but they still do have some Calcium. I don't guess that is really bad, it is just not the recommended type we take, so I also take the correct type in a calcium supplement. I will check at Wallyworld the next time I am there. I usually go to Sams, so maybe they have it too!

I don't think it's just WLS patients who are told they shouldn't take Calcium carbonate. There's some controversy about the absorbability of it and whether or not it contributes to certain kidney stones. I read recently that calcium (both citrate and carbonate) require high amounts of acid to absorb and should be taken with meals so that your stomach is producing acid. Who knows.

My only issue with Viactive calcium and Vitamins is the sugar and fat, but maybe that's so they will absorb better.

I prefer to take infant liquid Vitamins after I "discovered" them. 1/2 teaspoon and chase with a sip of tea.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
