Surgery Recovery Sucks!

Recommended Posts

sorry to hear you had so much pain. I had none at all so it's so different for everybody. If you can walk around a lot, that should get rid of the shoulder pain. People get shoulder pain from the gas they use during surgery.

I had my surgery in Vegas. They were very attentive as well. I think it was just me - I don't do well with pain. And, my body wanted to let me know that I had done something MAJOR! :sad0:

I liken this whole experience to pregnancy and child birth. Everyone's experience is a little different. Some people have very little pain and nausea, others have a bunch of either or both. Like child birth, I think once it is over and we are so happy with the results, we tend to forget the hard parts and focus on the wonderful. Just my two cents.

Thank you so much for posting this. I too liken it to childbirth and I had natural childbirth and NO pain whatsoever. I told that to a friend who wound up being in labor for 2 days and eventually had a cesarean...I vowed to never share MY experience again.

THANKS AGAIN. I'm getting more anxious to find out how I will feel and GEESH just can't wait to get it over with already.

Be strong, be patient and you will get through...God love and bless you Mini...

Thanks, I am doing MUCH better. Even went to a movie last night with my husband and friends. (Extraordinary Measures - VERY GOOD)

Today I am feeling a little weak and shaky. Not sure why. Felt great yesterday, but maybe I overdid it. Taking it slow and easy today.

I feel much better too! Every day gets easier. I ventured to the grocery store today and that took it all out of me. Time for a nap! Nice to know I still have several days off work to rest up.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
