Recommended Posts

Hello.

I'm here to guage the cost of the LapBand since it's looking like I'm not going to make it down to Mexico....

If you could please....tell me the following:

-Where you got your procedure done?

-How much did it cost you?

-What was included in the price?

Thanks for your help!

I was covered under insurance but I did look up the costs for my surgery. I stayed overnight in a heart monitored unit and the total cost of everything was $25,000. This included the surgeon fee, the hospital costs, the anesthesiologist costs, all pre-op testing, the post-op esophagram and 90 days free post-op care including fills. I was banded in New York and the surgeon has done well over 1000 surgeries.

Hello my name is Maria and I just got back from TJ, Mexico. What a wonderful experience. I paid a $500 deposit to get my surgery date, and upon arrival paid an additional $8500.00 This included all hospital fees, all doctor fees, 3 nights at a 5 star hotel, all transportation from the airport, to the clinic/hosiptal and upon discharge from the hospital my transportation to the hotel, and upon leaving MX, back to the airport in San Diego. My surgery was done at Hospital Angeles and the hotel I stayed at was Palacio Azteca.

It was a wonderful experiecne and recommend it very much. Dr. Kuri was my surgeon.

Good Luck

Maria

DH had his done at NWWLS in Kirkland WA(now in Everett WA) and it was $17,000. I'm having mine done at the same place. That included all the pre-op evaluations and consultations, surgery and a year of fills and follow-up. I really like the idea of the team approach, and that it's not just get the surgery and you are on your own from there. I need that follow-up.

Hi Lisa,

I've seen the phrase "DH" on multiple sites..what does that mean? Also, I'm now on my way to having my surgery done with Dr. Ortiz for $8500..I was able to find financing that would allow me to have it done out of the US.

DH stands for "Darling Husband". Or sometimes "Dang Husband" depending!:guess

I'm glad you found something that will work for you.

Hi I'm new to this and I haven't had surgery just yet but hopefully soon. I live in down in Tacoma and the surgery is going to cost 12,800 which includes the surgery, antheseologist (spelling??) and I'm not exactly sure what else because I haven't fully investigated it because I never thought that I would be able afford the surgery but my dad has offered to pay for it. At any rate I will find out as much information as possible and post the results. I do know that the $12,800 price is the price that I have seen in the last month so I just want to assure everybody that it is not an "old" price. Thanks:p

I also had my surgery done at NWWLS and not only do they cover all that with the 17000, but they also cover things that could go wrong with the band for 2 years!!! I'm glad I chose them...I got CareCredit to charge mine to

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
